The Rocky and Creed films owned and produced by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures.

Perhaps the finest series of boxing movies ever created, even if not all of them are of superior quality, the Rocky franchise is a staple of sports movies. They follow the career of Rocky Balboa, an underdog boxer whose occasional lack of skill is superseded by his willpower, overwhelming determination, and good heart. The mantle of main protagonist is later occupied by Adonis Creed, the son of Rocky's most prominent rival, branching off into the Creed film franchise.

Aside from the occasional flashback - usually found at the beginning of each movie, detailing the final bout in the previous film - the Rocky and Creed films don't play with chronology. Watching them in release order is fine. This will likely be complicated by upcoming projects.

There are several multimedia side projects associated with the Rocky and Creed films, including novelizations of the first five movies, several video games, and a musical. Few of them add anything to the chronology, so they are only noted under Release Order. The only exception is the video game Rocky Legends, which expands on the backstories of Rocky, Apollo Creed, Clubber Lang, and Ivan Drago, though it is unlikely to be considered canonical by any of the filmmakers.
