Godzilla owned and produced by Toho Co., Ltd.
MonsterVerse films owned and produced by Legendary Pictures.

Destroyer or saviour of the world, ill-tempered loner or friendly daddy, protagonist, antagonist, or self-serving jerk, Godzilla is a lot of things - but he is, at least, always an enormous dinosaur. The Godzilla franchise focuses most of its time on various incarnations of the infamous monster from Japan, whether he's battling the armies of Japan or tag-teaming other monsters with his occasional partners-in-crime, and the result is a lot of destruction, mayhem, and, for those of us who speak English, questionable dubbing.

In-Universe Chronological Order

The chronology of Godzilla movies roughly correlates to the 'eras' in which they were released. There have been numerous retcons and reboots of the series, making the construction of a timeline problematic. If you want a properly coherent viewing experience, it's best to watch the Godzilla movies by their era - which, in most cases, correlates to their release dates.

The Legendary Pictures MonsterVerse releases are shared between Godzilla and King Kong, with some overlap between the two monsters. All entries are included under the MonsterVerse category, but those that do not include Godzilla are omitted from the Release Order category.
