The Marvel Cinematic Universe owned and produced by Marvel Studios.

An enormous - and growing - collection of films, television shows, comic tie-ins and other media, the Marvel Cinematic Universe encompasses a large and twisting timeline. Watching everything in exact chronological order is, therefore, rather complicated.

There are some Marvel media - notably those with stronger ties to the Avengers films - that are simple to place on the timeline. Many, however, are more standalone, and therefore a little more difficult to place on the timeline. Typically there are small details that help place one film or television show after another. You don't need to worry too much about watching them in the exact chronological order, if a different order makes more sense to you, so long as the larger 'event' projects fall into the correct spots.

Marvel has released more films than are listed here, and other companies have released products based upon Marvel properties, such as the X-Men Cinematic Universe. These properties are slowly being folded into the MCU as a multiverse of stories. Since they are part of alternate timelines, however, we'll leave these listings in their own articles, since there's no telling exactly when they would mesh with the chronology of the MCU. The only exception is Deadpool 3, which has specifically been included in the MCU despite the series originating in the XCU.

Every movie released as part of the MCU is considered canonical. The television shows not released on Disney+, however, have not been officially confirmed as canonical. These shows will be included under Release Order only. (And, yes, for the moment that includes Daredevil, even if he has appeared 'officially' a few times.)

Many films have been announced but have yet to be released. Unreleased films are only included on this list once they enter production.
